DFA’s high quality funds and no-nonsense investing has earned them a stellar reputation and over $200 billion in assets under management. They have been in the investment management business for 30 years. A “who’s who” of the academic investment world (Eugene Fama, Kenneth French, Robert Merton, Myron Scholes) are associated in a variety of roles with DFA. These heavyweights of investment research are scientists—they analyze data and draw conclusions rather than looking for data to support their conclusions. Consequently, many of their ideas challenge the status quo.
